PRC's Pride and Prejudice on Human Rights Activists

Should China be proud of them?  Or persecute them to death?


Ni Yulan, winner of the Human Rights Defenders Tulip Award of the Netherlands, human rights lawyer, handicapped as a result of police brute force and torture, homeless since her private house demolished, detained for arbitrary criminal charges against her and her husband.  The trial was closed to public and even her daughter couldn't attend the hearing. Ai Weiwei, artist, architect, curator and human rights activist, kidnapped for 81 days without legal procedures, extorted for $2.4 million tax bill and forbidden to leave the city of Beijing.  His wife was also forbidden to travel, without legal reason. [1]-[3]



Gao Zhisheng, human rights lawyer, abducted by the PRC government for 5 years, tortured and put in a distant jail in Northwest desert area of China for 3 years.  Family members were denied to see him. [4]-[15]


Chen Guangcheng, blind legal activist fighting for human rights of women and disabled people, tortured in prison and his whole family isolated under house arrest since he returned home after 3 years in prison.  Any visitors are stopped by brute force, robbery and arbitrary detention. [32]-[49]


Dr. Wang Bingzhang, MD Pathology, democratic activist, Christian, abducted by the PRC secret agents in Vietnam and sentenced to life in prison. [50][51]
